Helping parents make clearer club soccer decisions.
Club Soccer Compass helps families understand the youth soccer landscape before they commit time, money, travel, and emotion to a team, club, league, or pathway.
Why this exists
Club soccer asks parents to make big decisions with an incomplete map.
Families are often asked to choose teams, accept roster offers, evaluate league names, manage travel costs, and make development decisions without a clear explanation of how the system works.
The result can be confusion: parents chase a badge before understanding the coach, accept a roster spot before understanding the role, or spend thousands of dollars before seeing the full commitment.
Club Soccer Compass exists to give parents a calmer decision framework. The site is not here to rank clubs or push every player toward the most expensive pathway. It is here to help families understand fit, development, opportunity, and timing.
What this site helps with
Practical guidance for the decisions parents actually face.
The guides and tools are built around real parent questions: what level fits, what a league name means, whether to accept an offer, when to switch clubs, and how much the commitment really costs.
Understand the pathway
Learn how rec, travel, academy, local leagues, regional platforms, and elite pathways fit together at different ages.
Evaluate real decisions
Use practical tools to compare clubs, roster offers, costs, playing time, coaching, commute, and development fit.
Avoid pressure-driven choices
Slow down decisions that are often shaped by urgency, league labels, fear of missing out, or unclear promises.
Built by a youth soccer coach and soccer operations leader.
Club Soccer Compass was founded by Ben Ossei, a long-time youth soccer coach and soccer operations professional who has worked closely with players, parents, teams, and club programs.
After years in the youth soccer environment, Ben saw the same challenge repeat itself: families wanted to make the right decision for their child, but the landscape was filled with unfamiliar league names, tryout pressure, roster uncertainty, cost questions, and conflicting advice.
This site was created to give parents a practical way to evaluate fit, development, role, pathway, and opportunity before committing to a team or club environment.
Our philosophy
The right environment is not always the loudest or most prestigious one.
A good soccer decision should match the player’s age, motivation, ability, role, development needs, family commitment level, and long-term goals.
Trust and independence
Parent-focused guidance without league hype.
Club Soccer Compass is an independent parent education resource. It is not affiliated with ECNL, MLS NEXT, Girls Academy, EDP, US Club Soccer, US Youth Soccer, or any specific league or governing body.
